Abstract

There are many similarities in the principles and minutiae aspects of instructions of divine religions and in moral teachings it occasionally reaches to peak. According to the teachings of Quran and the New Testament, chastity and avoiding infection of moral and sexual deviations have been considered as outstanding characteristics of believers in community for having Communal pathways to sustainable and health living; especially leaders and leadership authority have no stability without emancipation of lusts and desires. Importance of modesty; that is the state of controlling against lust, has been repeatedly mentioned in Quran. In the verses of chapters of Momenun and Maarij that is demonstrated to some of the qualities of virtuous believers, chastity has been mentioned as one of their outstanding characteristics. Quran considers some examples of modesty; look Covering, observing true manners in talking to passers and even walking mode and recommends the latency to ladies. Also Quran considers chastity as a main condition in choosing wives. The most important samples of chastity in Quran are St Mary and Yusuf (PBUH). In Christianity, like other divine religions, modesty and continence before lusts is in favor. Holy Mary, as mother of Christ and perfect woman is virgin in Catholic Church believes and symbol of purity and modesty. In fact, in Gospels, Jesus (PBUH) has considered observing the appropriate ethics in two major ways; first, health and purity of heart and soul of a person, Second, protecting purity of the sins and slips of others. He has considered importance of chastity observance somehow that he identified impure gazing to passers equal to adultery. St. Peter addressed to the follower women of Christ emphasizing modesty and avoiding the apparent adornment and make up in one of his letters and recommends compliance with appropriate dress so called non-corruption clothes. St Paul, in his letters, invites to avoiding lusts and blaming adultery and even abstinence of treating with adulterers, because they have no heritage in the kingdom of Christ and God. Jacob states the human experiments in adoration to lusts that if they surrender to whims and carnality, spiritual death happens. The methodology of this research is library-type and the purpose of this study is investigation in important of chastity in Christianity and Islam, which brings us to this conclusion that Chastity is the human virtue that every man and woman needs to observe of for sustainable health, happiness, bless and prosperity of this world and Hereafter. Undoubtedly, the world's women for returning to the main pathways to sustainable living and divine nature require to these virtues and heavenly patterns.
