قال الله تعالى

 {  إِنَّ اللَّــهَ لا يُغَيِّــرُ مَـا بِقَــوْمٍ حَتَّــى يُـغَيِّـــرُوا مَــا بِــأَنْــفُسِــــهِـمْ  }

10 Bizarre Aspects Of American Foreign Policy

Written by
The US is the richest country on Earth, the third largest, and one of only two superpowers (the other being China). So it makes sense that foreign policy for such an influential country might be complex. But it’s often bizarre, too. From the contradictory to the just plain strange, there are plenty of US policy decisions that can only be described as “weird.” 10Nearly Voting Against Itself At The United Nations https://listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/10-cuba-resolution_000018961549_Small-300x177.jpg 300w, https://listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/10-cuba-resolution_000018961549_Small-407x240.jpg 407w, https://listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/10-cuba-resolution_000018961549_Small-364x215.jpg 364w" sizes="(max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px" style="border:0px;font:inherit;vertical-align:baseline;margin:0px;padding:0px;max-width:100%;height:auto;transition:opacity 0.25s ease-in"> Every year, the countries of the United Nations gather to pass judgment on the continued embargo…
This is all very intimate for me; hard to speak on, really. Suffice it to say that this middling soldier gave his youth, and innocence, to what we used to call the Global War on Terror (GWOT). I left several of my boys in the meaningless streets and fields of Iraq and Afghanistan: five killed by improvised bombs, a couple still in wheelchairs, one with a triple amputation; dozens more were shot and wounded; perhaps hundreds emotionally and morally damaged for life. Two of my troopers got themselves killed over there and didn’t even know it: a suicide and a…
OUGLAS, Ariz. — In April, President Donald Trump announced he was ordering National Guard troops to the U.S. border with Mexico. “We’re going to do some things militarily,” Trump said. “Until we can have a wall and proper security, we’re going to be guarding our border with the military.” Here, in this dilapidated former mining town on the Mexican border, that vague directive has been translated — at least officially — to orders to help quell the smuggling operations in Agua Prieta across the fortified fence and in what is still regarded as one of America’s most corrupt locales. They…
One of the ironies of contemporary U.S. thinking about foreign policy is the odd status of realism. On the one hand, realist theory remains a staple of college teaching on international relations (along with many other approaches), and government officials often claim that their actions are based on some sort of “realist” approach. But Washington remains for the most part a realism-free zone, with few genuine realists in positions of influence. Moreover, the realist perspective is almost entirely absent from the commanding heights of U.S. punditry. This column, and the consistently insightful writings of people such as Paul Pillar or Jacob Heilbrunn,…
Early in 1968, Clyde Tolson, F.B.I. Director J. Edgar Hoover’s deputy and bosom buddy, a key player in the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., expressed both the hope and intent of those making sure that there would never be another president by the name Kennedy, when he said about RFK that “I hope someone shoots and kills the son of a bitch.” Earlier, as reported by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. in his new book, American Values: Lessons I Learned from My Family, the influential conservative Westbrook Pegler expressed this hope even more depravingly when he wished “that some…

Don’t Blame Hamas for the Gaza Bloodshed

Written by
Since demonstrations began on March 30, Israeli soldiers have shot and killed more than 100 Palestinian protesters inside the Gaza Strip, near the border fence separating Gaza from Israeli territory. Israel’s government is responding to international criticism of the killings in Gaza with a line of argument it has used since the 2007 takeover of Gaza by Hamas. We regret the harm to Palestinians in Gaza, Israel is saying, but it’s unavoidable, because Hamas  controls everything in Gaza , and we can’t act against Hamas without also harming protesters. That’s the response Israel used until 2010 to defend punitive restrictions on…
Mr. Chairman, distinguished members of the Committee. It is an honor to appear before you today. I thank you for your invitation. I am glad the Committee is holding this hearing about our policy in Syria. Through superb efforts led by our military and with the excellent help of our diplomatic team, America and its allies have largely seized territories the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) had controlled. The Syrian Army and its allies also took back territory, including the long-time stronghold of Deir Zour. ISIS has not gone away entirely, but compared to even 12 months ago…
There are two massive portraits of President Donald Trump behind the bar at Grant City Tavern. The first is a framed photograph. The second, a painting by a popular local artist, features the president from the waist up, his head superimposed on the body of a muscular man with his bulging arms folded across his chest, wearing a tight muscle T-shirt that says “POTUS 45.” Next week, the bartender says, the tavern is hosting a “Lesbians for Trump” event. Welcome to the East Shore of Staten Island. This is Trump country, and the president is playing a central role in…

The Lies Behind America’s Interventions

Written by
Official Washington and those associated with it have misrepresented the facts numerous times in the service of military actions that might not otherwise have taken place. In the Middle East, these interventions have killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Arab civilians, brought chaos to Iraq and Libya, and led to the expulsion of a million Christians from communities where they have lived since biblical times. The most famous of these episodes, of course, was the U.S. government’s assurance to the world that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, which formed the basis for the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq. The government…
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that President Donald Trump’s original instincts were correct about Syria, that America should not get involved, and “we should get out of Syria.” President Trump ordered strikes on Syrian forces after reports alleged that Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons. Reps. Massie and Justin Amash (R-MI) were two of the most prominent Republicans to oppose Trump’s strikes on Syrian forces. Congressman Massie, in reaction to the news that Trump ordered strikes on Syrian forces, wrote last Friday, “I haven’t read France’s or Britain’s ‘Constitution,’ but I’ve read ours and nowhere in it is…
The Cambridge Analytica/Facebook scandal continues to be front-page news. According to current reports, Cambridge Analytica obtained private Facebook data, which it used to send pro-Trump material to targeted Facebook users. These reports have met outrage in Washington DC. The Federal Trade Commission has opened an investigation, and U.S. senators have called for Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook CEO, to testify in front of Congress. Calls by Congress for increased oversight to prevent private companies from surveilling people are extremely ironic given that they recently renewed a section of the 2008 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which allows for the warrantless surveillance of Americans. Issues regarding the…
