قال الله تعالى

 {  إِنَّ اللَّــهَ لا يُغَيِّــرُ مَـا بِقَــوْمٍ حَتَّــى يُـغَيِّـــرُوا مَــا بِــأَنْــفُسِــــهِـمْ  }

Israel has gone far beyond “going after Hamas” in the first 10 weeks of its war on Gaza, according to one of the United States’ leading political scientists, John Mearsheimer. He tells host Steve Clemons that murdering hundreds of civilians daily and starving the rest is a “punishment campaign” and “should be unacceptable to decent people all over the world.” In this episode, Mearsheimer, who teaches international relations at the University of Chicago, looks into Israel’s long-term strategies and explains why the elites in the U.S., Europe and the Arab world are not taking concrete steps to stop Israel’s bombing…
Ukrainian-born Asher Zvi Hirsch Ginsberg (1856-1927), whose pen name was Ahad Ha’Am (Hebrew for one of the people), was a proponent of Spiritual, or Cultural, Zionism, which made him a rival to Theodor Herzl and Political Zionism, the movement dedicated to creating a nation-state in Palestine for all Jewish people worldwide. Ahad Ha’Am remains relevant to understanding the roots of the conflict in Palestine and Israel that has cost so many innocent lives. Hans Kohn, a Bohemian-born American writer, shed light on Ahad Ha’Am’s thinking about the “Arab problem” for Herzl’s movement in “Zion and the Jewish National Idea,” published in Menorah Journal, Autumn-Winter 1958. (The…
What can we notice about the development of the literary world in this “post-colonial” period inside the mind of the contemporary “native” if Orientalism was a way for the West to imagine the East to build a discourse that allowed a specific identity to be produced and re-made? Amitav Ghosh, Teju Cole, Rohinton Mistry, Susan Abulhawa, and Abdulrazak Gurnah are a few serious authors, journalists, and commentators who have questioned how the East is characterized by the old European world, but other authors provide a distinct yet recognizable image of the region. They present stories as ‘insiders,’ exposing the dismal…
Less than a year before election day, recent polls indicate that former President Donald Trump is leading incumbent President Joe Biden in key swing states that will decide the fate of the 2024 presidential race, The Hill reported.Trump leads Biden in hypothetical match-ups both with and without third-party options on the ballot in states including Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, according to fresh polling. Notably, Biden carried each of those states in 2020, and Trump will need to flip at least a few of those states if he is to win in 2024. While these numbers indicate that…
GAZA CITY: Dozens of journalists took part in a funeral on Saturday for an Al Jazeera cameraman killed in an Israeli strike in the south of the war-torn Gaza Strip. Samer Abu Daqqa's body, bearing his bullet-proof vest and helmet, was carried through a crowd in the city of Khan Yunis before being buried in a grave dug by fellow journalists. His mother, Umm Maher Abu Daqqa, accused Israel of targeting journalists, "especially those working for Al Jazeera". Abu Daqqa, born in 1978, was reporting from a school in Khan Yunis when he was hit by a drone strike on…
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has condemned what it called the "provocation" in a mosque in the occupied West Bank by Israeli troops who were seen reciting a Jewish prayer. Video footage showed soldiers inside a mosque in Jenin refugee camp using loudspeakers to recite the Shema Yisrael, a central prayer in Judaism. Towards the end of the clip, laughter can be heard as troops walk outside the mosque and a Hanukkah song rings out from the loudspeaker. It was not clear when the footage was filmed, but Israeli forces were engaged in a deadly raid in Jenin this week that saw 11…

Shejaiya Nightmare

Written by
EHRAN- The Israeli military has announced that eleven more of the regime's troops have been killed, including a lieutenant colonel who commanded a Golani Brigade regiment.  A spokesperson for the Israeli military also announced that at least seven other Israeli troops had sustained injuries. According to Israeli media reports, many of them are in critical condition.  The Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz acknowledged the regime's war on Gaza is "taking a heavy, painful, and difficult price from us".  Most of the troops have been killed in the Shejaia neighborhood near Gaza City.  Shejaia is in northern Gaza, just south…

Death and Destruction in Gaza

I do not believe that anything I say about what is happening in Gaza will affect Israeli or American policy in that conflict. But I want to be on record so that when historians look back on this moral calamity, they will see that some Americans were on the right side of history. What Israel is doing in Gaza to the Palestinian civilian population – with the support of the Biden administration – is a crime against humanity that serves no meaningful military purpose. As J-Street, an important  organization in the Israel lobby, puts it, “The scope of the unfolding humanitarian…
Medical workers in Indonesia call for an end to attacks on hospitals and healthcare staff by Israeli forces in Gaza.   Medan, Indonesia – Indonesian medics have held a communal prayer event in Jakarta to call for a ceasefire and an end to the “genocide” in Gaza where the Indonesia Hospital, located in the north of the war-torn Palestinian enclave, has been forced to cease operations. The event held in Jakarta and online included staff from Indonesia’s doctors’, midwives’, pharmacists’ and dentists’ associations, and was organised by the Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) which helped fund the construction of the Indonesian Hospital…
The Foreign Ministry publicly defended on Monday the Indonesia Hospital in Gaza from Israeli allegations linking the privately funded health facility to Hamas, a group that launched a surprise attack on Israel on Oct. 7. It was the correct decision of the ministry, although a bit too late. In a press briefing with foreign reporters, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Sunday the Indonesia Hospital had been built by Hamas "on a site that sat on top of a network of Hamas tunnels, to conceal the underground fortifications". "Hamas systematically built the Indonesia Hospital to disguise its underground terror infrastructure,"…

The Evil Israel Does is the Evil Israel Gets

Written by
Israel’s settler colonial project perpetuates the cycle of violence against the indigenous inhabitants of historic Palestine. Palestinians have been forced to speak back in the language Israel speaks. I knew Dr. Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, the co-founder of Hamas, along with Sheikh Ahmed Ismail Yassin. Al-Rantisi’s family were expelled to the Gaza Strip by Zionist militias from historic Palestine during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. He did not fit the demonized image of a Hamas leader. He was a soft spoken, articulate and highly educated pediatrician who had graduated first in his class at Egypt’s Alexandria University.  As a nine-year-old boy, he…
