قال الله تعالى

 {  إِنَّ اللَّــهَ لا يُغَيِّــرُ مَـا بِقَــوْمٍ حَتَّــى يُـغَيِّـــرُوا مَــا بِــأَنْــفُسِــــهِـمْ  }

سورة  الرعد  .  الآيـة   :   11

ahlaa

I know what you’re thinking: with my youthful looks, neither the math nor the biology of that sentence makes any sense. But it’s the truth, it’s not worth dissecting, so let’s move on. The Nation, too, is 150 years old. As I am only two generations removed from the Civil War era, and thus able to provide…
The Current Situation The Islamic State's blitzkrieg advances in Iraq last summer, coupled with those in Syria, are the biggest threat ever to the post-1919 borders in the lands of ancient Mesopotamia. Many don't want to characterize Abu Bakr's caliphate as a state, but it has an army, controls territory, and operates administrative structures, even schools and hospitals. And in the broad conflict stretching from eastern Iraq to western Syria and even Lebanon, the caliphate is not going away soon. The grievances and fears of the Sunni Arabs that boost the Islamic State, and the grievances and fears of neighboring…
Russia boosted oil supplies to China, Japan and South Korea by 10 million tons in 2014, increasing the proportion of oil exports to Asia from 7.2 percent to 8.7 percent. The additional supplies from Russia come at the expense of Saudi Arabia, whose share in the Asian oil market decreased from 26 percent to 24, Bloomberg reports. Other Arab oil-producing countries have also reduced their shares in the Asian oil market of the Asia-Pacific Region (APR). Qatar has reduced its oil supplies by 7.4 percent, while supplies from Kuwait decreased from 7.2 percent to 7 percent.   In the next…

A Visit to Europe’s Absurd New Border

Written by
From Der Spiegel Magazine- Borders can be annoying, but largely predictable — in Europe at least. That is what truck driver Yevgeny believed until recently. Many of them are no longer monitored at all, but even those that are guarded rarely hold surprises for those wishing to cross them. “You know if you can zip across them or if you have to plan for a five-hour wait. But this one? I have no idea how it works.” The border he is referring to is that of a wartime stronghold on the edge of a largely borderless European continent. At the first…
From The Economist -Eleven years ago a satirical film called “A Day Without a Mexican” (2004) imagined Californians running scared after their cooks, nannies and gardeners vanished. Set it in today’s America, and it would be a more sobering drama. If 57 million Hispanics were to disappear, public-school playgrounds would lose one child in four and employers from Alaska to Alabama would struggle to stay open. Imagine the scene by mid-century, when the Latino population is set to have doubled again. Listen to some, and this is a story of foreign scroungers threatening America, a softhearted country with a wide-open border.…
Reports that US and British aircraft carrying arms to ISIS have been shot down by Iraqi forces have been met with shock and denial in western countries. Few in the Middle East doubt that Washington is playing a ‘double game’ with its proxy armies in Syria, but some key myths remain important amongst the significantly more ignorant western audiences. A central myth is that Washington now arms ‘moderate Syrian rebels’, to both overthrow the Syrian Government and supposedly defeat the ‘extremist rebels’. This claim became more important in 2014, when the rationale of US aggression against Syria shifted from ‘humanitarian…

Former Russian Deputy PM Slain in Moscow

Written by
Lawyer Says Nemtsov Received Threats on Social Media   A flurry of speculation and finger-pointing erupted today after former Russian Deputy Premier Boris Nemtsov was shot to death in Moscow, just days before a scheduled speech.   Nemtsov’s lawyer has since claimed he had gone to the police recently about threats he’d received on social media, but that the police had apparently done nothing to protect him.   Nemtsov was an MP in the regional parliament of Yaroslavl, and heavily involved in the opposition. His speech was expected to address the ongoing economic problems Russia has faced since the price…
This is the text of a joint statement on Libya by the governments of France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States issued on February 17. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATEOffice of the SpokespersonFebruary 17, 2015 Joint Statement on Libya by the Governments of France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States The governments of France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States strongly condemn all acts of terrorism in Libya. The heinous murder of twenty-one Egyptian citizens in Libya by ISIL-affiliated terrorists once again underscores the urgent need for a political…

No Income Tax

Written by
Ron Paul supports the elimination of the income tax and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). He asserts that Congress had no power to impose a direct income tax and has introduced legislation to repeal of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution, which was ratified on February 3, 1913. An income tax is the most degrading and totalitarian of all possible taxes. Its implementation wrongly suggests that the government owns the lives and labor of the citizens it is supposed to represent. Tellingly, “a heavy progressive or graduated income tax” is Plank #2 of the Communist Manifesto, which was written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels…

International Answer

Written by
Dear Afaf, Benjamin Netanyahu will speak tomorrow morning (Tuesday, March 3) before both Houses of Congress in an effort to sabotage any negotiated settlement between the United States and Iran. ANSWER is organizing a demonstration tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. We hope you will join us. If you can’t come to the protest, please show your support for this action and for the ongoing work to cut all U.S. financing and funding of Israel by making an urgently needed donation. This movement needs funds in order to keep growing all over the country. Netanyahu’s appearance before Congress is a real outrage.…
WASHINGTON — President Obama says he wants Americans to view college as they do high school – a necessary step up the education ladder that anyone can take if he or she wants. That’s why he’s proposing an ambitious federal-state partnership to boost tuition assistance for students at public community colleges, he says.   “What I’d like to see is the first two years of community college be free for everybody who’s willing to work for it,” Mr. Obama said in a video messageposted to Facebook on Thursday.   If enacted, the president’s proposal would be a sweeping change in USeducational policy.…
