The sacred month of Ramadan is here, accompanied by a magnificent spring and life-giving rains!!!
There is reason to be optimistic. As always, great trials shape character and teach us a lot about ourselves! This time, we must be even more vigilant, fully activate our civic spirit and culture, and above all, have faith in our future!
Each Ramadan carries with it piety, sincerity, patience, endurance, fervent prayers, and a great deal of hope! Few of us take the opportunity to reflect on our actions throughout the year, but Ramadan offers us this chance, and we must take full advantage of it.
Instead of wasting our time and fasting by merely following the television schedule, it would be much more beneficial for all of us to revisit our relationship with the Creator of the heavens and the earth.
We are encouraged to speak well, act well, and have good intentions in all circumstances. This is our way of life as believing Muslims. Yet, in an era where Muslims number in the hundreds of millions, there is, unfortunately, a shortage of truly faithful Muslims!
Fasting teaches us to control our nerves and our egos, and yet we regularly witness deplorable scenes in the streets, markets, and households! Unprecedented verbal and physical violence erupts in such a way that we regretfully acknowledge: “Unfortunately, citizens have not understood the spirit of peace, mercy, solidarity, and tolerance of this sacred month!”
Ramadan is a month of purification, giving us the opportunity to correct our faults, organize our daily lives better, help the less fortunate and those in need, strengthen family ties, reflect more on the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and deepen our understanding of the meanings of Quranic surahs. Given all this, it is incomprehensible that people rush to markets and stores, thinking only of satisfying their stomachs while completely ignoring the spiritual benefits of this blessed month.
How can we fast while ignoring the moral ethics of this month? How can we explain such careless behavior?
We are far from understanding and embodying the values and principles of Ramadan, and this attitude negatively affects both our present and our future. That is why we must reassess the foundations of this hollow faith and embrace a citizenship that suffers from a glaring lack of real commitment. .
