Drop Site News<\/a>\u00a0reports that Gaza\u2019s health system is on the brink of total collapse, as Israel continues to restrict the entry of life-saving medical aid despite a ceasefire that mandated full humanitarian access.<\/p>\n

Drop Site spoke with\u00a0Dr. Mimi Syed<\/strong>, a U.S.-based physician who has volunteered in Gaza multiple times and has briefed international bodies and U.S. lawmakers on the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe. According to Gaza\u2019s Health Ministry, less than\u00a030 percent of required medical aid trucks<\/strong>\u00a0are currently being allowed into the territory, leaving hospitals unable to provide even basic care.<\/p>\n

After nearly two years of war, the shortages are staggering:<\/p>\n

More than\u00a0half of all essential medicines<\/strong>\u00a0are completely out of stock.
\nOver\u00a070 percent of medical supplies<\/strong>\u00a0are unavailable.
\nNearly\u00a060 percent of laboratory and blood bank tests<\/strong>\u00a0can no longer be performed.
\nEmergency rooms and intensive care units face a\u00a038 percent shortfall<\/strong>, placing hundreds of thousands of patients at risk of being denied care.
\nCancer treatment has effectively collapsed, with\u00a070 percent of oncology drugs unavailable<\/strong>\u00a0and at least\u00a01,000 patients deprived of treatment<\/strong>, some of whom have already died. Even pain relief is no longer available.
\nCardiac catheterization and open-heart surgery have been entirely halted.
\nAlmost all scheduled orthopedic surgeries have been canceled.
\nDialysis patients, surgical patients, and ICU patients face life-threatening delays or complete denial of care.<\/p>\n

The Health Ministry has issued an urgent call for international intervention, warning of a\u00a0mass loss of life<\/strong>\u00a0if the restrictions continue.<\/p>\n

Dr. Syed emphasized that these conditions are not accidental. She described the shortages as the\u00a0direct and foreseeable result of sustained restrictions on essential medical aid<\/strong>\u00a0entering Gaza.<\/p>\n
