The Lebanese government has\u00a0filed a complaint<\/a>\u00a0at the UN regarding Israel\u2019s continuous ceasefire violations and attacks against the country, noting over 2,000 breaches in the last three months of last year alone.<\/p>\n

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry said Israel\u2019s actions are a \u201cclear\u201d violation of UN Resolution 1701.<\/p>\n

It called on the UN Security Council to pressure Israel to \u201ccompletely withdraw to beyond the internationally recognized borders,\u201d end its attacks, and release Lebanese prisoners held in Israeli prisons.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe complaint included three tables detailing Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty on a daily basis during the months of October, November, and December 2025. The number of these violations amounted to 542, 691, and 803 respectively, totaling 2,036 violations,\u201d the statement went on to say.<\/p>\n

On the same day, an Israeli drone strike hit a vehicle in Al-Housh in Lebanon\u2019s Tyre district.<\/p>\n

<\/figure>\n

The Israeli army made a statement claiming it \u201cattacked a terrorist from the Hezbollah organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

A day earlier, a massive and deadly wave of Israeli airstrikes targeted southern Lebanon and the country\u2019s eastern Bekaa region. At least two people were killed.<\/p>\n

Israel has killed over 300 people in\u00a0Lebanon<\/a>\u00a0since the \u2018ceasefire\u2019 agreement was reached in November 2024. After failing to advance and hold ground during its 2024 invasion, Israel occupied several locations in the south during the ceasefire.<\/p>\n

It has continued to expand its occupation in the south and detonate civilian infrastructure along the border. Tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed, most of them after the ceasefire was signed.<\/p>\n

Tel Aviv has threatened a new war if Hezbollah is not disarmed. The Lebanese resistance has refused to surrender its weapons.<\/p>\n

Under US pressure, the Lebanese government recently entered into direct talks with Tel Aviv \u2013 in violation of Lebanon\u2019s laws.<\/p>\n

Beirut adopted a decision in August for the resistance movement’s full disarmament. The Lebanese army was ordered to draft a disarmament plan, which has been kept confidential.<\/p>\n

Hezbollah says it is willing to discuss incorporating its arms into the Lebanese military as part of a defensive strategy aimed at protecting Lebanon from Israeli attacks. It stresses, however, that no such talks can take place until Israel withdraws fully and ends its near-daily attacks.<\/p>\n

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem said in a\u00a0speech<\/a>\u00a0on 25 January that Beirut has not done enough to secure the release of Lebanese prisoners held in Israeli jails.<\/p>\n

At least 23 Lebanese prisoners remain in Israel\u2019s prisons, including people who were taken during the ceasefire.<\/p>\n

Israel has\u00a0violated<\/a>\u00a0the agreement over 10,000 times.<\/p>\n
