Hours before Ayatollah Ali Khamenei\u2019s death was confirmed, I told the\u00a0Drop Site News<\/em>\u00a0livestream that the assassination of Iran\u2019s leader would be an enormous crime.<\/p>\n

By early Sunday, Iran announced that the United States and Israel had killed Khamenei as well as\u00a0several members<\/a>\u00a0of his family.<\/p>\n

They join\u00a0hundreds of Iranians<\/a>\u00a0already slain in the American-Israeli war, including scores of schoolgirls massacred in an\u00a0unspeakable atrocity<\/a>\u00a0at an elementary school in Minab, southern Iran.<\/p>\n

Killing Khamenei, the leader of a sovereign state, in an unprovoked war of aggression is a flagrant act of international terrorism.<\/p>\n

Right away, President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the perpetrators of this crime, got what they asked for: Iranians poured into the streets.<\/p>\n

They were not there to protest their government and overthrow it \u2013 as the warmongers had demanded \u2013 but to mourn their martyred leader and demand revenge.<\/p>\n

Arab and Western complicity<\/h2>\n

Before the murder of Khamenei was confirmed, Arab and Western regimes lined up behind the Trump-Netanyahu war.<\/p>\n

With a few notable exceptions such as\u00a0Spain<\/a>\u00a0in Europe, and\u00a0Oman<\/a>\u00a0among Arab states, governments failed to criticize the attack on Iran \u2013 yet denounced Iran for acting in self-defense against the countries from which the Americans launched their aggression.<\/p>\n

In a particularly perverse twist, many \u2013 including\u00a0France, Germany and Britain<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 called for\u00a0Iran<\/em>\u00a0to resume \u201cnegotiations\u201d \u2013 as if it was Iran, not the United States and Israel, that had used ongoing talks as a cover to prepare\u00a0another<\/em>\u00a0surprise attack, just as they did last June.<\/p>\n

Canada and\u00a0Australia<\/a>\u00a0went even further, offering open support for the aggression.<\/p>\n

\n

So much for Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney\u2019s\u00a0big speech<\/a>\u00a0in Davos a few weeks ago challenging Trump and defending a world order based on rules that apply to all.<\/p>\n
