The Rapid Support Forces seized El-Fasher over the weekend and have since been linked to multiple mass killings in the North Darfur city.<\/p>\n
UK weapons and military equipment supplied by the UAE to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are being spotted on the Sudanese battlefield, according to a 28 October report by\u00a0The Guardian<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n The report cites two dossiers of documents, which have reportedly been seen by the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n Small-arms target systems and personnel carrier engines made by London are among the equipment being found in Sudan, the report says.<\/p>\n The report has also highlighted the UK\u2019s role in fueling the Sudan conflict.<\/p>\n \u201cMonths after the UN Security Council first received material alleging that the UAE may have supplied British-made items to the RSF, new data indicates that the British government went on to approve further exports to the Gulf state for military equipment of the same type,\u201d\u00a0The Guardian\u00a0<\/i>notes.<\/p>\n The engines mentioned in the dossier are made specifically for a UAE-manufactured armored personnel carrier. These vehicles have also popped up in Libya and Yemen in violation of UN arms embargos.<\/p>\n Abu Dhabi has repeatedly been accused of\u00a0supplying weapons<\/a>\u00a0to the RSF, which has been fighting in a brutal civil war against the Port Sudan government since 2023.<\/p>\n The RSF now controls most of western and central Sudan.<\/p>\n Just days ago, the paramilitary group seized control of the city of El-Fasher in North Darfur, after ceasefire talks in Washington collapsed. The Sudanese army announced this week its withdrawal from the city, which was its last western stronghold.<\/p>\n The capture of El-Fasher comes after more than 500 days of siege. Tens of thousands of civilians remain trapped, with many having lost contact with their relatives in other parts of the country.<\/p>\n The UN has warned of serious atrocities carried out by the RSF during the latest assault, including \u201csummary executions\u201d of civilians. There have been multiple reports of mass killings.<\/p>\n Volker Turk, the UN high commissioner for human rights,\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0the \u201crisk of further large-scale, ethnically motivated violations and atrocities in El-Fasher is mounting by the day.\u201d<\/p>\n Satellite imagery released by Yale University’s Humanitarian Research Lab (HRL) showed massive blood stains in areas consistent with RSF movements.<\/p>\n
