As usual, we are confronted with Washington\u2019s arrogance, which mistakenly believes that mere wishes or requests are enough to make us comply. Let me make one thing clear: I am not close to the circles of decision-making in my country, and this article expresses my personal opinion only.<\/p>\n
Washington wants to turn us into a \u201cgendarme army\u201d to manage affairs in the Sahel and some African countries \u2014 a pure illusion on their part. We will not do that, because we respect the sovereignty of the peoples of the Sahel, who alone must resolve their problems locally, without any international or regional guardianship.<\/p>\n
We are concerned only with our own security. As for what is called \u201cmediation\u201d with the Kingdom of Morocco, it is empty of substance, because what exists between us and Morocco is enmity, and there are many issues that must first be resolved between us. We have clear conditions for any normalization with Rabat \u2014 foremost among them is cutting their relations with the Zionists. We have an extremely strong sensitivity toward the Zionist occupation of Palestine, which we consider illegitimate.<\/p>\n
The justification for normalization, given the strong Jewish presence in Morocco, is entirely unconvincing, especially knowing that Jewish influence within the Moroccan royal palace is considerable \u2014 indeed, very considerable.<\/p>\n
Washington\u2019s vision of its interests is extremely narrow. We are not concerned with your interests, and our security will never be achieved by enslaving the peoples of the Sahel or interfering in their affairs. As for the criminal groups that have taken up arms in the Sahel, they will not be fought using Washington\u2019s deceitful methods.<\/p>\n
I have said before that injustice begets injustice, and violence begets only violence.
\nI conclude with the words of the late President John F. Kennedy:<\/p>\n
