The West\u2019s hypocrisy is ours to witness. To clarify, I do not care about institutional Western structures ; rather, I am referring to the West that expresses solidarity with our causes. This West is appreciated, yet it remains unable to explain to us why its elected officials are almost all supporters of the Zionists. It is unable to tell us the reason behind the contradiction between its solidarity with us and its voting for candidates whose campaigns were funded by Zionist money. It is unable to trigger any real shift in its countries\u2019 policies at the level of decision-makers. And it is unable to explain to us the relationship between its national security and our circumstances-so that, every time, its political elite interferes in our internal affairs, while we are the ones who reap the thorns and pay the price.<\/p>\n
Our problem with the sympathetic West lies in the contradiction between its support for our demands and its weak influence over Western decision-makers. Even within the British Labour Party, for example, there are two conflicting currents, and its positions each time take the color of one current or the other, while we are the ones who get lost in the flow of this river\u2026<\/p>\n
I say it plainly : in the West we need a generation aware of the challenges posed at the level of international security. What is happening in Palestine will inevitably have negative repercussions in the West. We have extremists who do not distinguish between the innocent and the sensible, between the implicated and the responsible in the West. Recently, France marked the anniversary of November 13, and everyone there remembered the blood that flowed in torrents on that dark day. The tragedy is that vengeful violence against innocents is likely to recur if the reasonable people in the West do not understand that we are all passengers on the same ship, all equally entitled to the right to life without discrimination. We have grown weary of the prevailing stagnation in the West. We do not deny the sympathy and efforts of the sensible among them regarding our causes, but the situation remains far below the required level. Our planet cannot bear more wars, more conflicts, more injustices, more massacres and slaughters-not to mention the environmental degradation that now threatens all of us without distinction.<\/p>\n
