قال الله تعالى

 {  إِنَّ اللَّــهَ لا يُغَيِّــرُ مَـا بِقَــوْمٍ حَتَّــى يُـغَيِّـــرُوا مَــا بِــأَنْــفُسِــــهِـمْ  }

In his final address to the troops, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel warned Thursday against "micromanaging" the military in what could be seen as veiled criticism of the White House. "You cannot micromanage or even attempt to micromanage" the Defense Department, Hagel said in a town hall meeting with senior enlisted soldiers at the Army Sergeants Majors Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas. "If you think you've got the right leaders, then let them do their jobs," said Hagel, who abruptly announced his resignation Nov. 24 after reportedly clashing with an overbearing White House staff on national security issues. Hagel also appeared to…
For much of the last century, the United States led the world in technological innovation—a position it owed in part to well-designed procurement programs at the Defense Department and NASA. During the 1940s, for example, the Pentagon funded the construction of the first general-purpose computer, designed initially to calculate artillery-firing tables for the U.S. Army. Two decades later, it developed the data communications network known as the ARPANET, a precursor to the Internet. Yet not since the 1980s have government contracts helped generate any major new technologies, despite large increases in funding for defense-related R & D. One major culprit…
Human experimentation was a core feature of the CIA’s torture program. The experimental nature of the interrogation and detention techniques is clearly evident in the Senate Intelligence Committee’s executive summary of its investigative report, despite redactions (insisted upon by the CIA) to obfuscate the locations of these laboratories of cruel science and the identities of perpetrators. At the helm of this human experimentation project were two psychologists hired by the CIA, James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen. They designed interrogation and detention protocols that they and others applied to people imprisoned in the agency’s secret “black sites.” In its response…

America Held Hostage

Written by
A few Americans are held hostage by al-Qaeda. The rest of us are held hostage by the U.S. overreliance on military force.   The United States recently conducted a raid in Yemen to free an American hostage. The raid failed. The Navy Seals killed 11 people, including a 10-year-old boy. The kidnappers executed the hostage, journalist Luke Somers. They also killed South African teacher Pierre Korkie. The South African was on the verge of being released as part of a hostage negotiation that the US government didn’t know about. Somers, meanwhile, was not the subject of any negotiations. The United…

Reckless Congress 'Declares War' on Russia

Written by
Today the US House passed what I consider to be one of the worst pieces of legislation ever. H. Res. 758 was billed as a resolution “strongly condemning the actions of the Russian Federation, under President Vladimir Putin, which has carried out a policy of aggression against neighboring countries aimed at political and economic domination.”In fact, the bill was 16 pages of war propaganda that should have made even neocons blush, if they were capable of such a thing. These are the kinds of resolutions I have always watched closely in Congress, as what are billed as “harmless” statements of…

Revolution in the United States

Written by
How can it be just that so few dictate the lives of so many? And I’m not referring to the 1 percent and the 99 percent. I’m speaking of the voting population in the United States and its minions Canada and Britain. Meanwhile, the billions of people around the world whose lives are directly impacted by the decisions made by elected officials in these wealthy nations have virtually no voice. The US Empire is far from democratic. It is authoritarian! It is imperialist! It is unjust! And a revolution is needed. In the 2012 presidential election, 121 million Americans voted,…

US Syrian policy getting everyone mad at us

Written by
Pretty rough treatment of the Obama administration in this New York Times piece on our Syria policy. The contradictions are obvious. We're fighting ISIS. President Assad is fighting ISIS. But we have an announced policy of getting rid of Assad. But we're helping Assad by bombing the most effective force fighting against him. And when your head stops spinning, you will be exactly in the same place that most rational people in the world are; total confusion. American and Syrian warplanes screamed over the Syrian city of Raqqa in separate raids this week, ostensibly against the same target, the Islamic…
The news that the Israeli Knesset is about to vote on the long-delayed “Jewish state” bill—which will define Israel as a “Jewish state”—has once again highlighted the incredible hypocrisy of the Jewish lobby in the West—which fully supports Israel but actively denies all other people the right to homogenous nationhood. The “Jewish state” bill was first submitted in 2011, and is now, after several amendments, finally being presented to the parliament for approval. Announcing his support for the bill, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the bill was a “response to those who are skeptical about the right of the Jews…

Afghanistan: None Dare Call it a Defeat

“Lord of our far-flung battle-line,Beneath whose awful Hand we holdDominion over palm and pine—Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,Lest we forget—lest we forget!Far-called, our navies melt away;On dune and headland sinks the fire:Lo, all our pomp of yesterdayIs one with Nineveh and Tyre!Judge of the Nations, spare us yet,Lest we forget—lest we forget!”Rudyard Kipling “Recessional” The last British soldiers were airlifted out of Afghanistan last week, marking the sorry end of Britain’s fourth failed invasion of Afghanistan. With them went the last detachment of US Marines in Helmand.Well has Afghanistan earned its title, “Graveyard of Empires.”To be more…
The US is considering bombing pipelines in Syria, which it claims is in an attempt to cut off the huge profits being made by ISIS from captured oilfields. The Independent quotes Julieta Valls Noyes, the deputy assistant secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs during a visit to London, that ISIS was making $2 million a day off oil sales and that the US would consider airstrikes as well as “kinetic strikes against some pipelines” and “actual physical action to stop the flow”.The trouble with this justification for destroying Syria’s oil pipelines, is that ISIS does not have the capability to use the…
We all know that the war in Syria has resulted in a massive influx of refugees into Turkey. According to unofficial figures, in the last 3 months there have been more than 1 million such refugees escaping the fighting in Syria. Because of attacks carried out by ISIS along our border, that number has increased and the majority of displaced people have moved to provinces along the border in the east of Turkey. It is unclear when the war in the Middle East will end and how much longer this outflow of refugees will continue. A look at the big…
