It is therefore incomprehensible and unacceptable for Muslim states to join a council that confiscates our rights to our land. When I read Jared Kushner’s arrangements, I was reminded of what Milton Viorst wrote in his book Storm from the East, where he pointed out that the American leaders of the Iraq war—namely the Bush administration—did not attempt to understand the complexities of the Iraqi scene, and that not everything that was planned would end up becoming a tangible reality on Iraqi ground.
But who listens? Who reads? And who takes heed?
In all cases, those who pay the price are the simple people of the Palestinian people, and the Lebanese, Syrian, and Sudanese peoples. Wherever we turn our gaze, we collide with the schemes of the Western Zionist enemy, and no matter how much we try to ignore their grip, we will remain subordinate.
Nevertheless, even if I see glimmers of light in our pitch darkness, and flashes of hope emerging from the depths of the tragedy in Palestine and in other places, whatever the scale of the conspiracy, they will not succeed. For the will of the weak is stronger than their scheming, and we have living examples, such as Afghanistan*. Time works in our favor, and this serves us.
