Those who do not prepare are excluded

By Afaf Aniba

The sons of kings in Northern Europe undergo military training and are psychologically prepared to shoulder the responsibilities of potential military confrontation with Russia or the United States. The political discourse in the Scandinavian countries, including the Netherlands, strongly emphasizes the need to pre-empt any unwanted military surprise.
The ambitions of the U.S. administration have further fueled European fears and intensified the debate over security dependence within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on the United States.

The striking paradox is that we, in the Global South, show little concern for what is unfolding on our own lands—endless conflicts and ongoing aggression—while no one has seriously thought about activating military training or psychologically preparing societies for what lies ahead, thereby ensuring social readiness. It is as if we were living on another planet, detached from the major transformations taking place in our region.

Once again, we are confronted with a genuine dilemma: the absence of a proper assessment of the risks surrounding our very existence. In the enemy camp, none of them wish us well; they are determined to keep us trapped in a cycle of underdevelopment and chaos, and their intentions are well known. How long will we continue to evade the truth, deceive ourselves, and ignore the enemy’s plans?

*The Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland) have, for several years now, reactivated compulsory military service and expanded it to include elites, within the framework of the concept of Total Defence, as documented in national defense strategies issued by their ministries of defense.
