The Turkish director Aslihan Eker told me, “We must speak about Palestine on every platform and at every occasion.”

Just a few minutes ago, I was with the Turkish director Aslihan Eker, a close friend of mine. She had read some of my English articles about Palestine and remarked:
“It is very important to speak about Palestine on every occasion and across all platforms – .”
She also told me that her documentary film about Palestine will be participating in the Timimoun International Short Film Festival, and that Mr. Abdullah Haroun will attend on her behalf to represent the film.
If each of us truly fulfilled our duty to raise awareness and clarify the ways of supporting and helping our brothers and sisters in Palestine, Sudan, and all who suffer from oppression and occupation, our causes would ultimately prevail — in the medium and long term.
Yet what we witness among the masses is great sympathy but zero action. As for civil society across our countries, it fluctuates – sometimes it helps, sometimes it retreats, sometimes it obstructs, and sometimes it simply accepts the status quo. This makes the task of aiding our brothers even more difficult.
The countries closest to Palestine -Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon- are themselves in tragic situations: in southern Lebanon and southern Syria, the Zionists rampage and kill, while in Egypt and Jordan, the movements of support and relief remain below the required level.
