Sooner or later we will return to Sharia

By Afaf Aniba

We reject the institutional tutelage of the West over the Arab-Islamic world. Islamic law (Sharia) is both a creed and a state — that is, politics and social order, culture and economy — and the West has no right to fight our right to implement Sharia ; without its application we are not Muslims. For this reason God Almighty obliges every Muslim to believe and to obey the teachings, commands, prohibitions, and laws of Islamic Sharia. Our merciful Sharia is not the brutality that the West and its various institutions portray; they deliberately present a distorted image of Sharia because it clashes with their bad aims.

In Islam there is no place for secularism or atheism, no place for communism or socialism, nor for liberal capitalism. We have an economic system based on the prohibition of riba (usury) and on guaranteeing a decent livelihood for all Muslims. We are weary of the discourse of tutelage ; we are tired of the declared war against us in every sphere intended to force us to abandon our Islamic Sharia. Islamic civilization will not be reborn in its beauty, justice, and vitality except through the implementation of Sharia rulings. Sooner or later we will return to it throughout our Islamic world — from Muslim Kashmir to Tatarstan to Nigeria and Senegal, God willing.
