Some weak-minded people boast about the warm welcome that Donald Trump extended to the Saudi Crown Prince, forgetting that such hospitality has a financial and investment price. With Trump, business is business. They also turn a blind eye to the extent of weakness Saudi Arabia displays before the United States, as it remains in constant need of the American protection umbrella. The Saudi throne could not survive even one week without U.S. protection—something Donald Trump himself admitted during one of his campaign rallies.
Let us examine this feverish need of Arab regimes for the Western umbrella: they believe the stability of their rule depends on Western approval and on the guardianship policy that has been imposed on them directly since foreign troops withdrew from our lands. Why would a ruling regime need a Western shield if it governs according to Islamic law-divine justice ? What is it afraid of ?
These rulers seek unequal partnerships and alliances, paying in return the most valuable thing their peoples possess: the sovereignty of their states. The Saudi ruler, for example, will never step out of the American house of obedience. He offers promises of normalization and sets conditions merely to throw dust in people’s eyes, for he has been normalizing under the table for years ; Zionist goods were passing through Saudi Arabia even at the height of the genocide in Palestine.
We approach the West from a position of inferiority, and they treat us as submissive dependents-and rightly so, based on how our rulers behave. So why do we denounce the West yet remain silent about the servility of those who govern us ?
