Justice is not antisemitism

By Afaf Aniba

I listened to Tucker Carlson, who stated in a speech that he is not against Jews ; according to him, his Christian faith does not judge people for the beliefs they were born into.

This leads us to an important dimension that is rarely discussed in the Arab and Islamic world. We have been subjected to the suppression of Qur’anic verses and to imposed dictates related to the regulation of what is termed “antisemitism.” As followers who are largely powerless, we obey and implement these dictates without serious scrutiny of what comes to us from the other side of the world. We therefore repeatedly affirm that we are not against Judaism as a religion, even if it has been altered, and that we do not oppose those who do not oppose us. This is the moral teaching of the Qur’an, to which God Almighty has guided us.

However, we do reject and resist the hostile actions directed against us by Zionist Jews, whose Zionism excludes us and turns us into targets that, in their logic, are fit only for killing. Such Zionist thinking is criminal at its core. We cannot applaud Jews who have stolen our land and our destiny, usurped our rights in Palestine, and desecrated—and continue to desecrate—our holy sites.

This distorted logic, which legitimizes aggression, brutal killing, forced displacement, imprisonment, and torture of anyone who defends their right to live on their own land, must be condemned and resisted. A Jew is a Jew, and their religion is not our concern—they are free in their belief. But if that Jew attacks us, we will not remain silent, and we will not allow our demands to be trivialized or for us to be turned into criminals simply because we demand justice.
I hope I have been absolutely clear.
