قال الله تعالى

 {  إِنَّ اللَّــهَ لا يُغَيِّــرُ مَـا بِقَــوْمٍ حَتَّــى يُـغَيِّـــرُوا مَــا بِــأَنْــفُسِــــهِـمْ  }

سورة  الرعد  .  الآيـة   :   11

ahlaa

The Pink City - Petros, Part 1

The urgent need to write "The Story of Petra"
Sometimes all one wishes is to put the most beautiful moments of his ancestors' past in a frame and reflect on them forever, to evoke from them the great bright spots in the history of those ancestors.
Today's children do not know how their parents - their grandfathers - used to live, as fathers and mothers did not speak about the grandfathers. In other words, their time horizon will narrow in perceiving existence constantly until history is reduced to the eternal present!!
It is better...
If a person makes his language and history a great victory every day, and celebrates them, evoking those bright flashes, and basking in the enormous power of this language and that history, then they are salvation, before he touches the edges of things, and collides with the reality that there is no escape.
Petra:
A historical city located in the south of Jordan, it is the capital of the Arab tribes known as the "Nabataeans", and Petra - the pink city - is considered one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world.
Petra is located 240 km south of the capital, Amman, and 120 km from the Gulf of Aqaba - the Red Sea - so its strategic location made it one of the most powerful kingdoms in that era, as it controlled trade between Najd, Hijaz and Egypt because it was the only passage at that time for merchant caravans.
Petra is distinguished by the nature of its architecture carved into the pink rock, which contains a mixture of ancient architectural arts belonging to various civilizations, and it is an entire city carved into the pink rock.
Petra is a unique example of the oldest Arab civilization (the Nabatean civilization), as the Nabatean Arabs carved it out of the rock more than 2000 years ago, and it is a witness to the richest and most creative ancient Arab civilizations. And the Orientalists called Petra the "lost city" due to the delay in showing it to the world. The English poet Bergen described it as the amazing eastern city, the unparalleled pink city.
The Nabataean kingdom flourished and its borders extended to the south to reach the northwest of the Arabian Peninsula, where the city of Mada’in Saleh is located. The Nabataeans extended their influence to reach the shores of the Red Sea, the east of the Sinai Peninsula and the Hauran Plain region in Syria to the city of Damascus. It is the focal point of convergence and communication of various world civilizations.
Did the Holy Quran mention the city of Petra?
The Lord of Glory said in Surat Al-A’raf:
(And remember when He made you successors after Ad and populated you in the land, taking palaces from its plains and carving out the mountains for homes, so remember the bounties of God, and do not mischief in the land, spreading corruption.)
And in Surat Al-Hijr, the Lord of Glory says:
(And the messengers of the Stone have certainly lied, and We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them, and they used to hew safe houses from the mountains, so the cry seized them in the morning, so what availed them of what they used to earn).
And the people who were seized by the cry (the people of Lot, the people of the grove, and the people of Al-Hijr), and this is their temporal arrangement, and it was inhabited by many peoples, the last of whom was the Nabateans.
We find rock-hewn buildings extending from the Empty Quarter in the south of the Arabian Peninsula to the Qalamoun Mountains north of Damascus in the Levant. Most of the references in the Qur’an and Sunnah indicate that the stone applies to the site of Petra and its surroundings in Jordan in the Levant, and the Messenger of God passed through it and did not enter it.
And on the authority of Abdullah bin Omar, may God be pleased with them, he said: We passed with the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, on the stone, and the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to us: (Do not enter the dwellings of those who wronged themselves unless you are weeping, being careful not to befall you like what afflicted them. Then he rebuked and hurried until behind it) Narrated by Muslim.
And Ibn Katheer says in his interpretation of the owners of the stone: They are the Thamud who denied the righteousness of their Prophet, and whoever lied to a messenger has lied to all messengers; That is why they were called denial of the messengers.
It is clear that the greatness and uniqueness of Petra made it an arena for weaving religious perceptions without firm historical evidence. Also from this is the claim of a German orientalist, who calls himself Christopher Luxenberg (this is not his real name), that Islam did not originate in Mecca, but in Petra, and he relies on that on his study of the ancient manuscripts of the Qur’an, especially those found in the Sana’a Great Mosque in the seventies of the twentieth century, and they date back to the middle of the first Hijri century, as he says that it is written in the script that was developed in the north of the Arabian Peninsula, and the Italian orientalist Michael Amari called it, in the nineteenth century, the “Hijazi script,” and it is not written in the Thamudic script that It was used in Mecca and Medina.
After Luxenberg, his student, the Moroccan researcher, Muhammad al-Masih, the author of the book Manuscripts of the Qur’an, continues to say that the foundation of the civilization of the Muslim Arabs stems from an older Arab civilization, believing that then they are the descendants of those Nabataeans who were the masters of the trade caravans par excellence, explaining the difference in what he says from what is known from the history of Islam that it was written at the beginning of the Abbasid era, that is, in the second Hijri century, when the caliph Abu Jaafar al-Mansur ordered the teacher of his son, Ibn Ishaq, to write a book on the beginning of Comes of Islam, later paraphrased by Ibn Hisham, is today the oldest available "Islamic narrative". Therefore, al-Masih believes that this "narrative" reformulated the events and their places according to the Abbasids' liking.
